I recently noticed The God Who Smokes on Alan Gable's web site. I was intrigued and ordered a copy. I'm not quite finished with it, but so far it is a fantastic read. Tonight I was reading chapter 11, "Dancing in the Dark" and thought at first, "This chapter is going to be a letdown - he already told this story." Wow, was I ever wrong. This book is getting better as I go.
Timothy Stoner wrote that Satan tried to discourage him from writing this book by whispering to him that he had nothing to say and no talent to say it. Well, Satan was lying and I am so thankful to Mr. Stoner for fighting him off.
There are some very interesting books out now by folks like Rob Bell, Brian Mclaren and Mark Driscoll. They have many disciples and it is easy to see the appeal. Stoner also acknowledges the appeal of postmodernism and Open Theism, but has written a compelling, balancing addition to the conversation. I hope he continues to fight off Satan and keeps writing.
Just do yourself a favor and read the book. It will bless your life.
Be good to yourselves,
